Many couples spend thousands of pounds every year to make sure that their wedding is as perfect as can be. Some of the only things to have left after their wedding day will be the rings and their wonderful photographs to bring back so many happy memories of this special day. But what if the couple did not hire a professional photographer to capture these memories and "Uncle Bob who has a nice camera" took their photographs and they are so disappointed when they receive his images.
One of the things that couples should consider after they have chosen their date and venue is to start looking at some professional photographers work to see if they like their style of photography and are happy with their quotes. You should always ask to see full wedding coverage and not just the photographers best shots of a wedding. This will give you a good overview of the different types of images that you could expect of your memorable day. Remember that photographers often get booked up early so once your date is set, start phoning around to avoid "Uncle Bob" having to take your photographs.
Check to see if the photographer has some sort of insurance cover to protect against any unforeseen mishaps that may occur during the day. Ensure that they have public liability insurance and professional indemnity insurance to cover any accidents against some of your guests or the venue that you have your wedding breakfast at.
Find out how long they have been a photographer for and more importantly how long they have been photographing weddings for. This is so important as taking the photographs of someone's special day is a big responsibility and you should have a photographer who has experience and not someone who has had a good camera and just likes taking pictures.
At the end of your day, apart from the vows that you made to one another, the rings and the photos are all you will have to look back on. All of the money that was spent on your dress, flowers, cars, decorations and catering ...... its all gone. If you decide not to hire a professional photographer because you want to save money it may be the one thing that you regret on this your magical day.
